Internship SAP Fiori & IoT
Are you intrigued by the Internet of Things, and how best we can integrate it with SAP’s latest frontend technology?
Job description
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cell phones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of. This also applies to components of machines, for example, a jet engine of an airplane.
Fiori, is a modern UI platform developed by SAP, to support frontend applications, which are delightful, simple, adaptive, coherent and are accessed based on specific roles(permissions). Generally, Fiori applications are developed using SAP UI5, which is a set of customized JavaScript libraries developed by SAP. Fiori applications work best when they are integrated with a backend HANA database (which is an advanced In-Memory database offered by SAP).
For this assignment, we want to explore the application of IoT and Fiori in the logistics industry. For large logistics companies, transportation is a key factor for running their business, hence the health of the transportation vehicles is a major concern for this operation. Most modern HUV’s come with several sensors, for monitoring different aspects of a vehicle’s performance. We can feed this real-time data from the sensors to a HANA cloud database, and in turn, we can design an application in the SAP Fiori landscape which would process these data and monitor the health of a vehicle. The application would also be able to predict any significant damage to the vehicle based on the IoT data and would have functionalities to inform relevant personnel to arrange proper maintenance for the vehicle. The application would also suggest the best vehicle to be assigned a consignment, based on the consignment weight, distance to the drop location and health of the vehicle.
We are looking for an intern to design a prototype for assessing the real-time data sent through IoT and represent them in a user-friendly SAP Fiori application, which would help the end user to assign consignments to vehicles in a better way, and thereby improving their business by ensuring a faster delivery.
