Your job
We strongly encourage students to suggest a topic of their own choice. You are open to submit a research proposal on any topic related to Testing. However, we have provided in the following section some ideas of different assignments you could be working on. Please specify in your application which project you propose or are most interested in.
Accenture brings the Internet of Things to life, we support fortune 500 companies with creating the seamless IOT solutions that helps expand the possibilities for people, society and the economy in our connected world. Accenture is looking for an Intern who can can support Test Services in our own IOT journey.
The objective of this assignment is to identify the position of testing in development projects. The standard waterfall and iterative development processes changed toward agile processes where the responsibility for the software quality was placed with development-teams as a whole. This caused testing to move back to the role of developers. Even though many believe that a real tester is different from a testing developer, it seems that we (as hardcore testers) cannot claim sovereignty over Quality anymore. Accenture is looking for an Intern who can research if and how the current approach to testing should change.
Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more an integral part of our latest technologies, starting with the simple tasks of taking over human chores. But this brings up a lot of questions, like: how do you test something that learns (or should learn) from its own actions? How can we as Quality experts ensure that we tested enough to be confident that the system (or AI) will improve over time? But also, if we can actually use AI in our “standard” test approach. Accenture is looking for an intern to identify if testing of Artificial Intelligence is different from any other test approach as well as identifying if AI can be used to execute (automated) testing.
A new trend was observed as a spike in the usage of Agile/Scrum within big companies. In order to match the pace of development in Agile/Scrum, speed and accuracy are key elements which need to be applied at every level. As of now, teams rely on Test Management tools implemented for Waterfall projects which require the adjustment and/or adaptation of processes and changing from them can prove to be time consuming. But companies can also invest in already developed tools for use in conjunction with Agile/Scrum such as the suite provided by Atlassian. An alternative is the integration between open source tools with licensed Test Management tools. Accenture is looking for an intern to analyze the possibility of various tool-integrations.
The increasing complexity of software results in new challenges for testing. Model-based testing significantly increases application quality by improving requirements, documenting the process of deriving test cases, and allowing for controlled test coverage by generating test cases in a reproducible way from the model. Models and different abstractions can ease comprehension of a complex system and ease test generation and automation. Accenture is looking for an intern to research Model Based Testing.
