Graduate Internship Data|Text Mining|Python

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern who is interested in applications of Natural Language Processing (NLP) in information retrieval from a large Dutch news corpus. This is a unique opportunity to explore the text mining possibilities of an enormous data set.

As a Text Mining intern you will explore new paths to determine future financial trends. Within DRA we created a database containing years of digital versions of daily editions of a specific newspaper. What is the predictive quality of these articles? And how can we transform this quality into drivers for future trends? Vast amounts of historical data can help our clients to create more insights in their future risks. Signaling this in an early stage, creates the potential to mitigate the risk and more valuable creates insights in foreseeing future opportunities. As an intern, you can receive access to this data and perform text mining and other analytical methodologies to unlock the potential of the data. You will be part of the DRA team to successfully develop the methodology and create an overview of the insights, as well as a link towards our customers business.

These chances don’t come often; therefore we are looking for someone who is eager and dedicated to this topic and shares our opinion that data science is the next big thing.

Successful applicants will be/have:

• In the final phase of your beta or finance Master's degree, for example: Information Management,

 Computer Science, Mathematics, Econometrics or Business Administration;

•  Python, data science, knowledge of front end development and Linux is a big plus
• Affinity with text-mining;
• A team player;
• Good communicative skills;
• Ambitious, independent, energetic and able to perform under pressure;
• Excellent analytical skills;
• Available full time for a minimum of approximately 6 months;
• Result-oriented, while ensuring the quality of work;
• Proficient in English, both verbally and in writing (Dutch is beneficial);

The student is responsible for acceptance of the thesis subject with the university.
