The world we live in is changing rapidly, and as a developer, you're in the cockpit. Will you join us on a digital journey around the world?
About the job
You will be working in the KLM Mobile team where, next to the native development of both our iOS and Android apps, we
are also building our own API. Other effort is related to the KLM Houses app and development of innovative capabilities like push messages, location based services, augmented reality and biometric identification.
Every day, a 100,000 people –mainly frequent flyers- tune into the KLM app. The app is developed to make the whole process of buying a ticket, travel preparation and flying as smooth as possible. The app helps users to organize everything themselves on the fly. It is highly valued, but our ambition is higher. This is where you come in.
We work as an Agile self-organizing product team and are responsible for the entire lifecycle of our products using our mobile products. The API helps orchestrate different Mobile-specific back-ends to our fast, easy to deal with-app, and is therefore essential in delivering a good customer experience.
This is what you will be doing:
Leading the way. Using the latest tools, such as JDK1.8+, Restful API's, Spring Boot, JSON, Docker, Kubernetes and MongoDB, you'll develop a variety of applications for internal and external customers and improve existing applications.
- Integration, testing and analysis. You'll spend every day developing in an innovative environment.
- Each day, you'll share what you're working on and thinking about in the stand-up meeting. This helps you learn from others, and helps others learn from you.
Where will you land?
We look forward to welcoming you as a back-end developer at KLM Mobile, Amstelveen. Here, roughly 50 people work in the beating heart of exploring new mobile opportunities for our passengers.
Your team consists of staff in the Netherlands and India. They are all motivated professionals who work at a high level with the latest tools. We work together intensively and across boundaries, and focus everyday on improving ourselves.
Someone who, as a child, built a room-tidying robot from technical Lego. Who always thinks of a handy solution when something takes too much time or effort. Who is enthusiastic and curious. Working with you is a breath of fresh air, because you can quickly understand our customers (and what they want).
You are analytical, proactive, accurate and capable of combining these skills with the practical implementation. Furthermore, communicating in English, both written and verbal, belongs to your set of skills! Working in teams as independently is not a problem for you and you are able to work with JAVA, preferably Kotlin.
KLM offers you an excellent learning experience in a dynamic organization in which you will play an important role. You have the opportunity to develop considerably on both personal and professional level.
One of the advantages of an internship at KLM is the association by and for interns called “KLM Taxibaan”. This “student association” helps you to build your network and arranges various excursions within the KLM organization.
You will also receive an internship allowance.
