Thesis assignment systems engineering / business process modelling
Wat ga je doen?
Goal
The goal of the research is to develop a (System Dynamics) model to explore the relations between OEMs, vendors, availability providers and customers operating in this market. The model should support strategic and tactical decisions and give insight in the relations and variables affecting the business drivers of KLM E&M Component Services. The leverage over OEMs, scale effects, amount of stock, service levels and other particularities of the industry should be taken into account. Through case study research, academic methods and theory related to the MRO industry can be linked to practice. This case study is carried out in collaboration with KLM Engineering & Maintenance Component Services which is a world leader in the global MRO industry.
Reason for the assignment
-Currently managers have limited quantitative tools to support strategic decision making. A model is required to gain insight in the driving forces of the industry and enable scenario analysis to accommodate the high level of uncertainty.
We are looking for a pioneering step in business modeling within AFI KLM E&M, which would enable to increase our competitiveness by an optimized use of business data.
