The Business Unit Trading is the energy trading hub of Vattenfall, which encompasses the sourcing and proprietary trading of coal, oil, emissions and gas.
The Gas Desk in Amsterdam is active in all liquid European markets and also trades the North American gas market.
As an intern you are not here just to observe our daily business, but we will give you the chance to work on different projects and use your abilities and skills to enhance and improve our analytical abilities. You will be working on the following tasks:
- Create a Supply and Demand Model for the North American gas market.
- Investigate the marginal costs of production of Shale Gas and track the active rigs.
- Make an overview and forecast of LNG export capabilities.
To be successful in this internship you need to have a passion for the energy markets and above average analytical and modelling skills. You are a self – starter with the ability to motivate yourself and high degree of responsibility and reliability. You are always striving for the best results in the work you do and are aware of your personal development. Stress – resistant and working under time – pressure is something you are used to.
We also require the following qualifications:
- Currently living and studying in the Netherlands;
- a relevant quantitative Masters discipline, such as economics, finance or Petroleum Engineering or similar;
- good knowledge of mathematics, statistics, modelling (Matlab / excel);
- good communication skills;
- fluent in English;
- teamplayer.
We offer you a challenging internship by working on interesting cases and analyses on high level in the energy market. From the start you will get responsibly to work on projects and be part of the team.
If you undertake an internship at Vattenfall you will be part of the internship network 'Voltage'. We organize activities for our interns on a regular basis. For example: application training, LinkedIn training, lunches and excursions (for example to The Nuon Solar Team).
There are also monthly sports, cultural and social activities from the MegaWatt network (this is the young employees network in Nuon) you can join.
These are all opportunities to spar with other colleagues about your different experiences within the company and hear more about the organization. It's also good for your networking!
Vattenfall/Nuon gives a fixed compensation of 500 euros. If you don’t have a student travel card, we will also pay travel costs.
