The increasing complexity of software results in new challenges for testing; there used to be a clear distinction between functional tester, performance testers, and security testers, now you see a demand for all-rounders. This development is partly due to the popularity of Agile development and a reduced threshold through more availability of open source software. The Accenture Test Services NL (TSNL) is specialized in the field of software testing and the various areas of functional application testing.

We are looking for students who like to investigate the need and possibilities of building this expertise within TSNL. We currently have the following assignments:

Performance testing and Agile testers: Due to the popularity of Agile development and more open resource software availablity, we would like to investigate the need and possibility of improvig this expertise within TSNL. We are looking for students interested in answering questions like; what are the trends in the market regarding Agile Testers who have performance test knowledge? What tools are available for various performance tests? What knowledge and training is needed? Which part of the Performance Test can be done by an Agile tester and which parts should be done by a specialist? How can we be stand out in the market? Etc.

Model-Based Testing: Improve requirements, document the process of deriving test cases, and allow for controlled test coverage by Model-based testing. Models and abstractions can ease comprehension of a complex system and ease test generation and automation. We are looking for students who are interested in Model-Based Testing (MBT), how it can help to automate the test process, what expertise testers should have using MBT, deep dive into MBT tools by Conformiq (Creator, Transformer), design small projects to automate test design, and/or test execution in Selenium framework.

Open Source Tools integration with Licensed Test Management tool: Teams using Agile/Scrum currently often still rely on Test Management tools implemented for Waterfall projects. Shorter development timelines and quicker response of the end users can be achieved by using DevOps with Test Automation thus ensuring quick delivery while maintaining high quality. For a complete ecosystem and an E2E solution, integration between open source tools such as Robot Framework, Cucumber, and others with licensed Test Management tools, e.g. HP ALM, MTM, IBM could be provided. With this assignment, you will analyze the possibility of ALM-RF integration, understand how Robot Framework works, create a POC of the integration and document this. In addition, you would do the same for Jira – ALM integration.

Security offering for Digital Projects: The aim of this assignment is to define what the Accenture Test Center at Accenture’s client Liberty Global would require offering security testing for Digital projects to our client. The project will be set up in Agile. You would define the project scope, processes/assets and test activities, and create Work instruction. Note, that you would do this assignment at the client's location. 

Testing with Docker: With the shift towards DevOps, there is a need to integrate testing in CICD pipelines (sanity checks before and after deployments, regression tests, etc.). At the end of this assignment you would deliver a research report on how we could use Docker to set up environments for testing and how we could integrate this setup in a CICD pipeline, a working demo of a solution to run automated tests with Selenium and Robot Framework in Docker containers and to automate the creation and decommissioning of test environments with Docker, and provide a manual which contains the steps to set up the solution.

Service Virtualization ROI: Service Virtualization tools are used to give development and test teams access to dependent system components that are used to exercise an application under test but are unavailable or difficult-to-access for development and testing purposes. With the behavior of the dependent components "virtualized," testing and development can proceed without accessing the actual live components. There are several SV tools already available in the market (e.g. CA LISA, IBM, Parasoft etc.). We are looking for a student who can create an ROI (Return on Investment) framework/excel tool to express this value to customers after implementing Service Visualtion. The goal is to create an ROI framework, the requirements, design and build a prototype and create and implement the POC.
