Assignment for internship
Assess the Impact of capacity constraints on traffic at Schiphol.

Context
Since several years, Schiphol airport is congested: first during the peak hours only, and since 2017 Schiphol operates at its maximum annual capacity of 500.000 movements. We would like to know what the impact of scarce capacity are for the network, destinations, and number of passengers carried from, to and via our airport.

(We understand that below is quite a broad range of questions, maybe we can split it into 2 assignments)

We want to gain better understanding about the consequences of capacity scarcity (for both our passengers and the network destinations). 
1) To what extent can we expect airlines to deploy (1) larger aircraft and (2) increased load factors? 
-What development have other congested airports gone through?
-What opportunities have airlines operating at Schiphol got to change fleet or configuration?

2) Basic economic theory (‘economic rent’) tells us that scarcity allows providers to increase their price.
-Could you validate such statement (benchmark of airports (congested / non-congested)
In case average ticket price would go up, what should we expect with regards to:
-Share of transferring passengers?
-Share of business passengers?
3) How will the network of (passenger/freight) destinations be effected?
-How will full freighter traffic develop?
-How will the network of destinations develop, given scarce situation?
