Accenture
Job Description
In recent years, the European Union has set ambitious targets towards a carbon-free energy transition.
The current focus on the employment of vast amounts of renewable energy worldwide, and on massive CO2 reduction, highlights the need for the rapid development of technology for the production, storage, transportation and distribution of renewable energy. In addition to electricity, we need other forms of energy carriers, such as hydrogen, that are more suitable for energy storage and transportation.
Your job
The aim of this project is to study the future energy system in central and west Europe to fulfill the EU targets for reducing the CO2 emission by 2050. To this end, we will develop several scenarios between 2030 and 2050 for few countries or regions in Europe to include different energy mix, different technologies, and different approaches for energy storage and transport.
During your internship, you will build these scenarios using the two existing EU modeling tools (in Excel and python) and you will do cost analysis and sensitivity analysis to provide a thorough comparison between different scenarios. The possibilities for including different energy sources and energy carriers, different storage options, different technologies, all other requirements in each of the energy model scenarios are embedded in the modeling tools to be used, and you need to get familiar with the interface and to possibly adapt the model where needed.
Additionally, you will work closely with experts at Accenture to supplement insights and analyze the findings, bringing this together into an in-depth perspective of the future energy system of central and west Europe.
You will work in a mixed, international team. You will be part of the Accenture Research team in the Netherlands, working closely with colleagues from the Utilities and Energy teams locally. During the research, you will interact on regular basis with experts of Accenture Global Research across the world, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to global initiatives.
