Introduction

You have flown with us, but what do you know about the amount of information that was processed during your last trip? Each flight generates terabytes of data about the actual flight routing, the fuel consumption minute by minute, the technical status of the aircraft, the passengers, baggage, and freight on board, and much more. How would you use that data to help us reduce future delays or to minimize the number of missed transfer connections? Could you help us determine for which flights we could further reduce fuel consumption by providing us with an innovative dashboard? In a major European airline operating at one of the busiest airports in the world, there is always a vast number of interesting Data Analysis challenges waiting for you.

We are looking for Data Analysts who will help us get valuable insights from the ever-growing amount of data, in order to become the world’s leading data-driven airline.  Are you ready to make a difference in our new Data & Technology organization?

What are you going to do?

Be ready to truly make a difference. As a Data Analyst, you will apply your knowledge and skills to change the way KLM works, driving innovation and transforming KLM into a truly data-driven organization. But it does not end there. You will get the opportunity to spend 10% of your time for research and self-study. Your manager will be a Data Science professional who will help you develop your skills. And you will join the Community of Practice where you will exchange knowledge and attend events and lectures.

Where do you land?

You will be working in Data and Technology Platform Human Resources. You will be working in a scrum team of around 10 people in one of KLM’s offices at or around Schiphol Airport.

Your profile

We are looking for passionate and talented Data Analysts, for curious builders who are biased towards action, communication and enjoy working in a fast-paced and international environment.

  • You are proficient in all areas of expertise of a Data Analyst: understanding business needs & problem definition, data retrieval and manipulation, data analysis, data visualization, consulting & storytelling, communication, and support.
  • You know advanced visualization options and how and when to apply them.
  • You create effective visualizations using a variety of techniques and tools, and can create custom components.
  • You can translate analysis results and visualizations into a compelling story and communicate this clearly to the business
  • You understand advanced SQL techniques (e.g. common table expressions, windowing functions).
  • You have good knowledge of the agile way of working.
  • You are fluent in English, being able to communicate in Dutch is a plus.
We offer

We offer a dynamic and challenging position that provides opportunities to apply leading edge craftsmanship and where you can make a difference.

KLM is on its way to become the world’s leading data and technology-driven airline, which means that you will be working with talented and driven people within and outside your field, on cutting-edge technology and with top-level equipment. You will be part of our cross-business Data Science Community that organizes lectures, information sessions, hackathons and more.

We offer a clear career path with ample opportunity for growth. Your manager will also have a data science background and will therefore be able to truly help you develop both your soft and hard skills. We will be investing in your development as a professional, for example by allowing you to spend over 10% of your time on learning anything you want during your weekly Learning & Development afternoon and quarterly hacking week.
