Introduction
Do you want to ensure your future holiday trip leaves on time? Are you interested in emerging technologies in aircraft maintenance? Are you eager to investigate all aspects of a brand-new policy and do you leave no stone unturned? With an internship in Predictive Maintenance you strive for aircraft and component repairs at the most convenient time at the lowest possible cost. This contributes to lower prices and less flight delays!
What are you going to do?
As a predictive maintenance intern, you are going to investigate the benefits of a new component replacement policy. Aircraft systems are designed redundantly, which means that an aircraft can still safely operate when one component fails. However, fixing the aircraft afterwards takes time, which can lead to a flight delay or cancellation. Predictive maintenance is the practice of forecasting system failures in advance, such that end-of-life components are replaced pro-actively at a convenient maintenance opportunity. Additionally, the components that are replaced just before breaking down may also be cheaper to repair.
And that is where your help comes in! We are experimenting with predictive maintenance for some time now, and know well where it can save money, but we are now sure how much this actually is. In your research, you are going to focus on the savings for the component services division of KLM Engineering & Maintenance. You will track some pro-actively replaced components from the aircraft to repair facility and beyond. Along the road, you compare the predictive maintenance policy with the run-to-failure policy. Together with the mechanics, you study the damage of the components. In the end, you calculate the financial impact of both policies. The ultimate goal is to have a well-substantiated quantified benefit estimation of predictive maintenance.
Your official seat is at the Component Services department, but you will also work together closely with the Predictive Maintenance development team and the KLM repair facilities.
You are a curious Msc student in aviation, engineering, or business-related education. You have affinity with aircraft maintenance and business analysis. You are pro-active, can work independently, and you are eager to get to the bottom of things. You are proficient in English and can write a solid and convincing conclusion of your research. You are available 4-5 days per week for a period of 3-6 months.
A place in a fast-paced, dynamic but also fun working environment where you can quickly learn and grow! You will also discover what it’s like to work in a big corporate environment. There is also the option to join Taxibaan, the association for KLM interns and dual students that organizes a lot of cool (online) social events. Last but not least, there is a competitive allowance.
Don’t wait any longer, send us your CV before the final boarding call on 21-02-2022! A motivation letter is no longer required; we will simply ask you a couple of questions during your online application. Within two weeks you will receive a message from us. Your application procedure consists of one and if desired two interviews.
If you would like to know more about the position, please contact the hiring manager. Call or e-mail the recruiter for questions about the application process. In both cases, don't forget to mention the vacancy number: #9944.
