Unique part-time position available @ Boston Consulting Group, as Public Sector Junior Associate
Are you interested in Public Sector challenges and solutions? As Public Sector part-time Junior Associate, you will be part of BCG’s dedicated Public Sector consulting team, where you will support the team in four main areas: help with proposals to win new projects, develop the Public Sector practice area through analysis, help organize the Public Sector consulting team and support on running projects. The job is a unique opportunity to get practical insight into the life as a consultant and strategic insight into how the business works. The job will be a part-time function and so can be combined with student life.
The Position & Key Responsibilities
The job is expected to be 10-20 hours per week. The initial duration of the position will be between 6 – 12 months, with a possible extension of 6 months. Your key
responsibilities will be divided into four areas:
1. Assisting the creation of proposals for our Public Sector clients
- Gather data from publicly available and internal BCG data sources
- Conduct analyses and synthesize recommendations on how to approach the topic in question
- Write BCG references and team descriptions
2. Developing the Public Sector Practice Area at BCG through insights
- Keep track of BCG publications and identify relevant developments for the Public Sector Practice Area
- Identify commercial opportunities, e.g. chances to strengthen relationships with existing or new clients
3. Helping the internal organization of the Public Sector consulting team
- Keep the cloud space updated, with an up-to-date overview of running projects
- and proposals, team CVs, proposal materials, and an archive
- Prepare monthly internal team (lunch) discussions and the monthly newsletter
- Organize the semi-annual team event (in some cases abroad)
4. Assisting on running Public Sector projects
- Collect and structure relevant information and data for the case
- Support the team with draft slides and/or first analyses
You typically (but not necessarily) are a 3 rd year Bachelor student or just started your Master’s degree. You study political science, economics, business and politics, or the like, and have strong academic records and have experience in one or more public sector organizations (ministries, regions, municipalities, etc.) via an internship or summer job, or can at least prove your affiliation with the Public Sector.
We look for individuals with a deep interest in working with and improving The Netherland’s public sector across relevant areas, e.g. health, education, employment, integration, finance, defense, etc. You have a good understanding of the structure and roles of Dutch public sector institutions, a structured approach to problem-solving and planning of work deliverables, a strong quantitative and qualitative analytical toolbox and a high level of initiative, drive, and ownership of work. You are flexible in working hours during peak times - we will offer flexibility during exam periods. You are fluent in Dutch &
English – both verbally and written and have good knowledge of MS Office tools: Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
