This internship gives you the opportunity to work in a professional and highly international environment. You will be engaged in various projects, such as topical reviews, data collection for impact analysis of changes in IFRS and internal guidance. Moreover you will have the great opportunity to work in a team which is dealing with the changing environment of the Lighting business.
Your responsibilities
Your assignment will consist of several elements:
· Supporting to drive standardization and harmonization of documentation;
· Supporting to consolidate information for information purposes;
· Supporting of certain routine topical reviews (e.g. goodwill impairment testing, warranties, inventories, and accounts receivable);
· Supporting in documentation of accounting topics (e.g. impairment testing, restructuring).
· Supporting in documentation and reviewing of customer contracts.
· Assist in preparing accounting presentations in PowerPoint
· Supporting on any other urgent accounting topic.
You will be part of the Lighting Accounting & Internal Control (A&IC) team within Philips. Within this team you will report to the Technical Accounting & Oversight (TA&O) Director and work closely with the A&IC Accountants of the department. It is a leading and ambitious department in Philips Finance with the main goal to maintain and drive for Financial Integrity.
The Lighting Accounting & Internal Control department consists of five different pillars:
1. A&IC Accountants
2. Consolidation & Reporting
3. Special & Statutory Accounting
4. ICS/Sox
5. Technical Accounting & Oversight
This team aims to provide for the necessary support to the Philips Finance Business Partners, responsible for financial integrity of their reporting units, in making the right accounting decisions in the fast changing Lighting business environment. The team is organized worldwide covering the areas of EMEA (Europe, Middle East Africa), the Americas (North America and Latin America) and APR (Asia Pacific Region), with the cross sector organized Centers of Expertise.
The internship will be located in the Sector A&IC team in Amsterdam with a main supportive role to the Director Technical Accounting & Oversight and in close proximity of the A&IC Accountants for the EMEA region.
You will get a great opportunity to be trained, learn and develop yourself in a changing environment with a group of highly professionals who are used to coach junior colleagues. You will gain a unique overview of the business transformation within the Lighting business. It will be great experience to take with you in your future career.
· This assignment is not suitable to do your WO thesis;
· Assignment of HBO students should be discussed upfront with your educational institution;
· Duration: 9-12 months
· We prefer students able to start as soon as possible, not later than August/September 2014
Internship conditions:
1. Students on work placement or final-year study assignment are paid a work placement or final-year study assignment allowance.
2. A student on a work placement or final-year study assignment is paid an allowance towards rented accommodation, depending on his/her situation. This will be determined setting up the Intern Contract.
3. A student on work placement or final-year study assignment who can prove that he/she is not entitled to a student card for public transport (OV-studentenkaart) is paid an allowance to cover the cost of travel between home and the place of work in accordance with the Conditions of Employment Guideline.
4. The student is entitled to paid leave on the basis of 1 day per month.

To be successful in this internship we are looking for you:
· Currently studying towards your Bachelor HBO (BEc) / University Master of science WO (Msc.) in:
o Accounting (with basic training in IFRS (or at least comparable GAAP) are part of your education)
o Economics
o Finance
· Preference for basic training in auditing/assurance framework
· Are fluent in oral and written English
· Have some experience in previous internships regarding the same field (preferred but not required)
· Have excellent knowledge in windows applications, most important are well developed PowerPoint and Excel skills
· Are a Team player with ability to work under pressure
