Job Description & Summary

Our internships provide top students from different backgrounds a great opportunity to learn more about Strategy&, understand the role of a consultant and to engage with clients on the projects we work on.

Do you like solving economics problems? Do you prefer working on socially relevant issues? Are you at your best in an ambitious environment? Then seize this opportunity for a supervised internship within our Economics team. You’ll be working on various types of projects in a variety of sectors, along with experienced economists and colleagues from other teams, giving you many development opportunities.

Who are you?

  • You are about to undertake, are taking, or have almost finished a Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or another relevant discipline; *

  • You’ve achieved excellent academic results;

  • You’re interested in socially relevant issues;

  • You’re keenly interested in economics problems and you wish to apply economic theory to practical issues;

  • You function well within a team;

  • You have an excellent command of Dutch and English (written and spoken);

  • You’re flexible about methodology and the sectors in which you want to work;

  • You’ll be available in the near future to work full-time for 3 to 6 months.

* You are only eligible for this internship if you are enrolled at a university.

What’s the work like?

You’ll be working with our Economics team. That team deals with a wide range of economics issues and supports public organisations and companies in a variety of sectors. We assist public and private parties to tackle challenges that are often the result of market failure. Here are some examples of issues that we help tackle:

The authorities want to force a company in a sector characterised by economies of scale to open up its network to competitors. Is enforcing access to that network the best way to safeguard the public interest (affordability, reliability, etc.)?

New, clean technologies, such as offshore wind, are needed to combat climate change. How can the authorities shape incentives in such a way that the innovative power of the market is exploited and new markets develop?

A local government body wishes to increase sustainability or improve connectivity, and to that end wants to invest in its own infrastructure (for example optical fibre or a wind farm). How can it arrange this judiciously without violating the rules on state aid?

You’ll apply your analytical and quantitative skills to come up with practical solutions to complex economic problems within the public and commercial sectors.

What we are offering?

We offer:

  • An opportunity to learn about economics in practice within a team of talented, expert economists;

  • An inspiring and dynamic working environment made up of ambitious PwC professionals;

  • A coach/buddy who will guide your personal development;

  • An opportunity to gain work experience (you'll work as a full member of the team);

  • An attractive internship allowance.

Who are we?

This supervised internship in Economics is within the Strategy team at our Advisory department. At Strategy we combine strong analytical skills with know-how and experience in various markets.
